PUBLIC NOTICE: The Arts Advisory meeting will take place online and in person. You may attend the meeting in person or watch online or listen to it over the telephone. The Commission is accepting written public comment that will be acknowledged in the meeting.

Overview

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission, established by city ordinance in 1971, consists of seven volunteer members appointed by the City Council. They work to promote and sponsor activities and events that enhance the cultural atmosphere of the community.

Goals

  • Position cultural arts as community and economic building blocks.
  • Engage our community to educate, inform, inspire.
  • Promote understanding of diverse cultures, ages and abilities.

Activities

The Arts Advisory Commission and the Friends of the Arts sponsor the Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show held each fall. The Arts Advisory Commission activities include coordinating and promoting monthly art exhibits at the Mountlake Terrace Library and maintaining the inventory and documentation of the city's public art collection. The Arts and Cultural Strategic Plan was approved by the City Council in 2009.  The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission values cultural arts as vital to the human spirit, a means to connect a diverse community, and essential to the health and vitality of our city. The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission mission is to nurture, support and promote the cultural arts as a vital element of our community's quality of life, economic viability and vibrant community identity.
