[ARCHIVED] MLT and Edmonds to Conduct Plant Inventory

Aqua Kids camp

The cities of Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds (members of the Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Watershed Forum) and Tetra Tech Inc. are jointly conducting an aquatic plant inventory on Wednesday, June 27 to determine Eurasian milfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) species, incidence, and density in Lake Ballinger.

The inventory information will be used to develop an effective control plan for Eurasian milfoil in Lake Ballinger. A small internal combustion boat will be used to conduct the survey. The Department of Ecology is funding the work through a grant for $25,000 awarded in February 2018.

All are welcome to meet the survey team and learn more about Lake Ballinger milfoil control efforts at 9:30 a.m. on June 27, 2018 at the Ballinger Park Boat and Fishing Access (23600 Lakeview Drive).

More information on the Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Watershed Forum is available online at www.cityofmlt.com/488/. Questions? Please contact Laura Reed, Stormwater Program Manager at lreed@ci.mlt.wa.us or (425) 744-6226.
