Doug and his family have lived in Mountlake Terrace since 2002. He
began his community service by serving on the Community Police Advisory
Board for two years. Later, Doug was appointed to the Planning
Commission where he served as a commissioner for two years. Doug was
elected to the City Council Position #3 in November 2009.
“As a councilmember, I look forward to
carrying out the city’s comprehensive plan in an effort to affect
change as this community strives to revitalize the downtown corridor
with the goal of making Mountlake Terrace a vibrant and sustainable
city,” Doug explains.
Doug holds a BA degree in Communication and a
teaching certificate from Seattle Pacific University. He recently
completed a Masters of Science degree with an emphasis in mathematics
from Walden University. A middle school math teacher for the past 17
years, Doug has been teaching in the Edmonds School District for the
past 8 years.
Doug currently serves as City Council liaison
to the city’s Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission and the Community Policing Advisory Board. He continues to serve on the LEOFF I Disability Board and the Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee.
