Homeowners considering a remodel to their home, or adding improvements such as decks, roofs, garages or retaining walls, often have questions about building permits. Because each construction project is unique, we invite you to refer to our FAQ page, or contact a Permit Specialist via the Ask A Permit Specialist Form to answer your specific permitting questions. Permit Specialists can be reached at permitspecialist@ci.mlt.wa.us.

Intake Appointment Requests are responded to in the order they are received. Please allow at least 5 business days for a date and time confirmation for your appointment.

Inspections:  Those with active permits can schedule an inspection via the online Permit Portal.

Your project must have issued permits on-site, require workers to be six-feet apart, and have a developed exposure control, mitigation, and recovery plan. Washington State Department of Labor & Industries will enforce requirements for contractors to comply with comprehensive COVID-19 exposure control, mitigation, recovery plans and safety practices.

Passports: The passport office will remain closed until further notice.
