The Finance Department includes services such as budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, investing and use of city funds, financial policy development, debt management, risk management and purchasing.
Finance also has a key responsibility in generating the Proposed and Final City Budget and in preparing the annual financial report. Other financial related reports are issued for management decision-making and for external reporting purposes.
Finance also provides support in developing and implementing effective systems and processes to assure the timely delivery of high quality municipal services. Examples include the Community Satisfaction Survey, strategic planning and performance management. The survey identifies what the city is doing well and where it can improve. The information may be used for community planning, resource allocation, performance measurement and program and policy evaluation.
The Finance Department provides accountability for all public funds, assets, policies, and systems in the most effective and efficient manner, while delivering responsive customer service with honesty and integrity.
