Volunteer Spring Cleanup Set For April 23

A community work party is planned to spruce up Veterans Memorial Park and the Civic Campus.

A Mountlake Terrace tradition, the Volunteer Spring Cleanup is moving this year from Ballinger Park into Town Center.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon April 23, with lunch to follow for volunteers. We’ll meet at the Civic Campus, 23204 58th Avenue West. It will be a great time to gather and share a meal afterward in the Jerry Smith Town Center Plaza, if weather permits.

Those attending as a group can register by contacting Parks and Facilities Superintendent Ken Courtmanch at kcourtmanch@mltwa.gov, 425-776-1811.

A limited number of tools will be available to share. Participants are asked to bring their own rakes, weed pullers, and non-electric pruning tools. Tasks will include pruning, weeding, raking, picking up litter, and removing blackberry bushes and other invasive plants. Protective gloves and footwear are strongly encouraged.

For more information, contact Virginia Clough, Community Relations Director/City Clerk, at 425-744-6206 or vclough@mltwa.gov.
