[ARCHIVED] Tour de Terrace Parade, Friday, July 29

The Seafair-sanctioned Tour de Terrace summer festival kicks off Friday, July 29 with the 24th Annual Tour de Terrace Parade featuring the Seattle Police Motorcycle Drill team at 6:45 p.m.

Come and see the parade roll down “Main Street” with fan favorites including the Seafair Pirates and Clowns, Lake City Western Vigilantes, drill teams, dancers, floats, trucks, classic cars and much more. This year’s Grand Marshals are Jim and Karen Miller, Mountlake Terrace residents since 1956. Jim was a former City Councilmember and Karen is a retired Snohomish County Councilmember.

The parade travels along 56th Avenue West from 234th Street northward to Evergreen Playfield at 222nd Street SW. The parade line up will cause heavier than usual pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area along with a street closure.

Traffic in downtown Mountlake Terrace is expected to be heavy beginning at 4:00 p.m., especially around the Civic Center at 232nd Street SW and 58th Avenue West and along 236th and 220th Streets SW as parade participants check in. Street closures include 56th Avenue West between 236th and 220th Streets SW, and 224th (54th to 56th Avenues W), which is closed for the Street Fair. 56th Avenue will close at 6:00 p.m. and reopen at approximately 9:00 p.m. (See accompanying map.)

The Tour de Terrace Parade is always held the night before the “Seattle Torchlight Parade” and serves as a dress rehearsal for the various parade entries.
