[ARCHIVED] Civic Campus Project Design Commences

Over 40 people attended to discuss the project’s vision and look at images intended to stimulate conversation about the redevelopment. The project includes construction of a new City Hall and an addition to the existing Police Station. Imagery provided by ARC Architects included examples of building forms, materials, colors/textures, transparency, landscaping features, and welcoming areas.

There was discussion about how civic campus redevelopment will relate to and complement future downtown development, including structures and open spaces. The architects also asked for input about the kinds of activities the community would like to have at the Civic Campus so they can design appropriate infrastructure such as lighting, power and water to support those activities.

Residents shared reactions to images provided by ARC, as well as ideas, which provided helpful direction to the architect team for use when developing design options and concepts. During the next open house, scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Senior/Community Center at Ballinger Park, three concepts will be presented.

“Thanks to everyone who took time to participate,” stated Community Relations Director Virginia Olsen. “Please add July 11 to your calendars because we would like to continue the strong community involvement in designing this project.” To learn more about the Civic Campus Project, visit www.cityofmlt.com/1922 or call (425) 744-6206.
