At the City Council’s January 4, 2016 meeting, Jerry Smith was chosen as Mayor for a two-year term. Mayor Smith is beginning his 15th year on City Council and 13th as Mayor. Councilmember Rick Ryan was selected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for 2016.
The City Council also named their 2016 representatives for city and intergovernmental boards. The City Council’s regional leadership has been an important component of establishing and maintaining partnerships, which is beneficial for grant opportunities and leveraging limited resources.
Mayor Jerry Smith will serve on the Community Transit, SNOCOM (911 Dispatch), and Snohomish County Emergency Radio System (SERS) Boards. Additionally, he will continue to Chair the Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Watershed Forum and serve on the LEOFF I Disability Board.
Mayor Pro Tem Rick Ryan will serve as liaison to the city’s Arts Advisory Commission and the Library Board.
Councilmember Laura Sonmore will serve on the city’s Finance Committee and SNOCOM Board. She remains as one of the city’s three representatives on the Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee.
Councilmember Kyoko Matsumoto Wright will continue to serve on the SeaShore Transportation Forum and Snohomish County Tomorrow (SCT). She continues to serve as the city’s representative on the SCT Alliance for Housing Affordability Board.
Councilmember Doug McCardle will be the Council liaison to the city’s Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission and the Community Policing Advisory Board. He continues to serve on the LEOFF I Disability Board and the Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee.
Councilmember Seaun Richards will serve on the Snohomish Health District Board.
Councilmember Bryan Wahl will serve on the city’s Finance Committee and the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Regional Transit-Oriented Development Committee.
