[ARCHIVED] Council Amends Contract to Fund Town Center Park Plan

The Mountlake Terrace City Council has approved amending a professional services agreement between the city and ARC Architects to include master planning for a Town Center Park/Plaza.

In 2007, the City Council approved a Town Center Plan that included a park to help create a vibrant city center. The intended purpose of the park would be to attract people downtown, serving the entire community, used by customers of downtown businesses and employees.

The cost of master planning the public gathering space is $57,663 and will be funded by impact fees which are collected to pay for needed public improvement projects. The agreement will fund expenses related to public outreach, identification of uses, design options, preferred plan and cost estimates for construction.

The city has adjusted its scope of the Town Center Park to be located and incorporated into the civic campus redevelopment adjacent to the new City Hall. The Town Center Park process would move forward with public meetings to assist with design and could possibly incorporate a water feature and hardscapes.
