[ARCHIVED] Veterans Trail Access to Transit Center to Close

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, Sound Transit is closing the Veterans Memorial Park Trail access point to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center to safeguard passage of pedestrians during construction of the Mountlake Terrace Light Rail Station.

The Transit Center surface parking lot closed on October 19 and after November 9, safe pathways through the parking lot will not be possible, due to construction of the light rail station. The trail will remain open, but access to the transit center will be blocked off.

Pedestrian detour routes include south to 236th Street SW; travel south on 58th Avenue W, then cross to the south side of 236th Street SW, and travel west on 236th Street SW to the crosswalk to the Transit Center.

North to Interim Park & Ride (former site of Roger’s Market Place at the corner of 232nd Street SW and 56th Avenue W), travel north to 58th Avenue W, then cross to the north side of 232nd Street SW and travel east on 232nd Street SW to crosswalk to Interim Park & Ride and catch bus connections to the Transit Center.

The interim parking lot will be in use for 12 to 18 months, while a new surface parking lot and bus loop are constructed adjacent to the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center at 59th Place West.
