Councilmember Steve Woodard Takes Oath of Office_December 2 2019

Councilmember Steve Woodard was sworn in at the December 2 City Council meeting, after being elected in the November 5, 2019 General Election.

Woodard’s term began immediately after the election was certified on November 26 because he was appointed by the City Council to fill an unexpired term left vacant after the death of long-time Mayor and City Councilmember Jerry Smith. Woodard was elected to complete the remaining two years of Smith’s term.

When appointed to the Council February 9, 2019, Woodard served on the city’s Recreation and Parks Commission for over 3 years. Councilmember Woodard, a Mountlake Terrace resident since 2004, currently serves as the Dean of Access and Completion at Edmonds Community College.

Woodard has been engaged in teaching and college administration for over twenty-five years. He has also served as a church youth group advisor, coach for his kids’ teams, and volunteer in the Edmonds School District.
