At its first meeting of the year, the Mountlake Terrace City Council re-elected Doug McCardle as Mayor Pro Tem for a one-year term.
Additionally, the City Council approved the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee’s recommendations in the amount of $10,000 to Mountlake Terrace Friends of the Arts for “Arts of the Terrace” Juried Art Show and $15,000 to Tour de Terrace for their Seafair summer festival.
The Council also made selections for liaisons to City Boards/Commissions as well as with intergovernmental agencies. City Board and Commission Liaisons for 2021 will be Councilmember Ryan for the Arts Advisory Commission; Councilmember Woodard for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission; Councilmember Sonmore and Mayor Pro Tem McCardle for the city’s Finance Committee; and Mayor Pro Tem McCardle for the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission.
Intergovernmental Board/Committee Representative Selections were as follows: 1) Lake Ballinger/McAleer Creek Watershed Forum – Councilmember Woodard and Councilmember Sonmore (Alternate); 2) LEOFF I Disability Board – Councilmember Ryan; 3) Puget Sound Regional Council’s Transit-Oriented Development Advisory Committee – Councilmember Wahl and Councilmember Murray (Alternate); 4) SeaShore Transportation Forum – Mayor Matsumoto Wright and Councilmember Woodard (Alternate); 5) Snohomish Health District – Mayor Matsumoto Wright and Councilmember Sonmore (Alternate); and 6) Snohomish County Tomorrow Steering Committee – Councilmember Wahl and Mayor Pro Tem McCardle (Alternate).
Mayor Matsumoto Wright continues serving a two-year term on the Community Transit Board of Directors as an alternate, and Councilmember Sonmore continues her two-year term on the city’s LEOFF I Disability Board.
In other business, the Council discussed holding their annual goalsetting retreat on February 20 at 9:00 a.m. and they reviewed their 2021 meeting schedule. The City Council may move their November 11 work/study session to another date, if needed, since it falls on a national holiday.
