[ARCHIVED] Sound Transit I-5 Closure on Saturday, June 26

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE —The southbound lanes of Interstate 5 from 220th Street SW to SR 104 in Mountlake Terrace will be closed overnight on Saturday, June 26 for Lynnwood Link light rail construction that will allow the alignment to cross over the highway. Northbound traffic lanes will remain open.

Starting at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, crews will close the southbound I-5 lanes between SR 104 and 220th Street SW until approximately 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, June 27.  During the closure, traffic will be detoured on SR 99 and SR 104 before rejoining I-5.  There will be a uniformed police officer present at the 220th Street/I-5 southbound on and off ramps during this closure to help manage traffic. Please plan ahead, leave early, and allow extra time to reach your destination.

The closure is necessary for a large concrete pour for the future elevated guideway over I-5. The work will be performed along the southbound shoulders as well as in the center median of I-5 near the Mountlake Terrace Freeway Station.

For more information, please visit https://www.soundtransit.org/system-expansion/lynnwood-link-extension or contact Sound Transit’s Public Information Officer John Gallagher at john.gallagher@soundtransit.org.  The after-hours construction hotline is 1-888-298-2395.
